Tension Cue (Jewel Thief's First Heist)
Inspired by spy movies and heist movies, I created a Light Tension Cue piece that is suspenseful with a mix of legato and staccato string harmony, piano and synth melody, woodwind melodies and countermelodies, tuba, and percussion effects. It has a somewhat action suspenseful type vibe that reminds me of a jewel thief sneaking into a museum trying to steal a precious diamond. The melodic motif is played by Piano, Synth Pads, Clarinet, Piccolo, and Bassoon to add a suspenseful melody. Violas and Erhu Violin play the countermelody. The Violins and Vibraphone play a secondary harmony to add depth. The background harmony is played by the Bansuri Flute, Cellos, and some parts of the Double Bass. The Low piano, Bright Plucked String Pad, Tuba and the Double Bass are playing the kick drum rhythm. The Scientific Method Drums are playing the main rhythm. The Triangle, Knock, and Gong add to the rhythm. I did an audio recording of my Bongo Drums and my Cowbell for extra rhythm. The Intro is a slight variation of the main melody motif with all of the melody instruments playing it and is four bars long. In the first pre-hook section, the bassoon plays the main melody motif down an octave and is eight bars long. There is more buildup as some instruments enter in to the first hook section which is also eight bars long. There is a slight buildup in the next pre-hook section with the rest of the instruments making short entrances to build to the main hook for eight bars. The Main hook section of the light cue has the most intensity and every instrument is included for eight bars long. The music slowly dials down a little on intensity as some instruments break off for eight bars long. After that section, there is the breakdown section where it's mostly just percussion, bass, tuba, and low piano and synth playing for four bars long. This section is a slight variation of the pre-hook that builds intensity back up slightly to the Final Hook. This following section is the Final Hook for eight bars long. This is the Button and ending section of the piece for one bar and ends on a soft note to give it a deceptive ending.
